    Critzer Family Farm is a friendly, down-home setting perfect for you and your family to enjoy. Our goal is to provide you with the freshest, best-tasting and healthiest produce that you can find.  We use environmentally-friendly methods and we have a 5-generation commitment to leave the land and community better than we found it. Our farm offers kids a place where they can learn about hard work and integrity, and experience a bit of farm life, showing them where their food comes from. We are open to the public from April to October. Make plans to visit, we'd love to see you!

      Whitney Critzer 5/12/1948-4/9/2019

      A year has gone by since the passing of our friend and mentor, Whitney Critzer.  We miss him greatly, and will not forget all that he taught us. 


      The Critzer family has been a fixture in the Afton area since the Revolutionary War.  As the most recent owner and visionary behind the farm and its importance in the lives of so many families that picked berries, peaches and pumpkins over the years stood Whitney Critzer.  Whitney led the Church of the Blue Ridge for almost 30 years and was the vision behind the founding of Afton Christian School in 2001.  Whitney wanted to provide places where families can laugh, learn and share life and experience the simplicity of the country.  He loved the Lord and children, and wanted to see children love the Lord. 


      For us personally, Whitney is the reason that our family is here at Critzer Family Farm.  He took us and our children in, and loved us as his own.  He wanted our children to grow up here on the land, tending fruits and vegetables, and sharing it with other families like ours.  It is his vision that we are carrying forward in memory and thankfulness to him and the Father that we share.

        Critzer Family Farm is open for pre-picked and u-pick fruits.  


        SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS THAT WE ENCOURAGE:

        • Washing hands before entering the fields and after exiting – we will provide handwashing stations
        • “If you touch it, you pick it” policy


        ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS BY CFF:

        • All contact areas will be cleaned frequently
        • We have emptied our farm stall in order to allow for spreading out of people, and will make every attempt to serve people fast in order to prevent groups forming


        HOW CAN YOU HELP US? 

        • If you are sick, please stay home
        • You can purchase a $1 picking bucket and reuse it throughout the season. You can also bring your own picking basket or box – we will weigh containers when we assign picking patches. You will not be charged for the weight of the picking container.
        • Park in assigned areas and follow the Good Agricultural Practices signs that will be posted.
        • Enjoy your time!

        We are located across the road from Blue Mountain Brewery in scenic Afton, Virginia. From Charlottesville: 64 West to Exit 107; West on Rt. 250 for 4.5 miles: South on Rt. 151 for 1.3 miles; look for our sign on the right.
